Off The Map

So it's over, group project is over and i'm sure that the tutors are just as happy as we are that all the arguing and moaning is at an end (until next year).

I can honestly say that I've enjoyed it. 
Yeah, i know what you're thinking "liar" but hear me out!

I've enjoyed it because it was real, studio baised teams work the same in that they have the Leader (producer), an art director by their side and they 'monkeys' to help make it happen. Yes, we have had our fair share of disagreements, arguments and pull our hair our set backs but it was all an amazing learning experience. I learnt that you won't always get along with people, but if you try your hardest to come to terms it will all pay off. I've learnt that things will always break, things will always disappear, but everyone in your team tries the'r up most best to make it right. I've loved working with my team, they are great people and even though i was close friends with 3 already i now know we are closer than ever. 

I am proud of what we have produced, i'm proud that even though we didn't have a level after Easter to build from, and in the end it held us back quite a bit, but we overcame that problem. There is still a few things everyone wants to touch up for the level, those little ticks at the back of your brain thinking "i could change that" or "oh that looks terrible! Lets get in and fix it"; but i can say for now that i won't be touching this level again with a 20ft barge pole.

Sleep is for the weak

I feel so weak! 

So i pulled an all nighter tonight.. last night, 8 hours ago? I don't even know! But i did it, i did it for the team so that all of my textures and models would be completed in time and we wouldn't have any more problems with tardy people. I also did a painting of myself, which is scary cause the later it go the more tired i looked and now i look like a politician... Which should never happen! EVER!

So i made a a mini render of some of the models i have textured but i will be updating with screenshots today.. tomorrow.. at lunch; of the tavern all done and looking pretty. Thank god.
So goodnight, good morning? I don't care anymore, i'm going to get some porridge.

Toy’s VS Pets Draft Pitch (documentation)

So I’ve been asked to create a draft of the kind of documentation I would have to create when it comes to my fmp. So with me already thinking about and finalising my ideas for my fmp, I feel that it was a perfect opportunity to get my ideas out on paper so that when I did have to make the documentation, I could work from this post! So here we go!

Toy’s Vs Pets

Toy’s Vs Pets is a stylised adventure game for males and females aged 12(pre-teens) to 25 (young adults) for the DS and other handheld consoles of the like. This means that it has to be colourful, fun and low poly enough to be able to run on the hand held devices. Everything will be built in 3DsMax, rigged and displayed in UDK.

The concept is that toys have begun plotting to take over the world, infiltrating homes across the world so that they can take over the citizens and make them their slaves. However, 5 pets in a small suburban town have overheard their plans and want to stop them from enslaving their owners.

The 5 characters are:
Margret – A tall and slim Lolita character aged 12. She loves her old china dolls and two Siamese cats., transport undecided.
Nathanael – Charming and chubby boy, aged 10. He is into his tech, robots, videogames and scifi galore. His pet goldfish is his partner in crime, transport undecided.
Ollie – Aged 6 his is a cute, blued eyed little boy obsessed with airplanes  he carries a plane in one hand and his hamster in the other everywhere he goes. Transport: a bike with a basket for his hamster ball.
Robyn – An adventurous girl aged 12 who likes to fight monsters and pirates with her sidekick pug. Transport: rollerblades.
Hudson – The oldest of the bunch, 14 years old this rebellious boy is breaking into the punk scene with his vicious (and overly lazy) bulldog. Transport: A personalised dirtbike (with helmet).

The objective of this project is to concept and design all five characters described and to model 3 with their pets, modes of transport, one evil toy and pose them all together. Alongside the final models, there should be a large amount of concepts of the characters, their environments (rooms and gardens) pets and final illustrations to explain the concept more thoroughly.

Technical specifications:
Each character has a tri limit of 4,000 (maximum!)
Each pet has the tri limit of 2,000 (maximum!)
Each Mode of transport has the tri limit of 2,000 (maximum!)
Each weapon has the tri limit of 600 tri’s (maximum!)
